La Kodak Pocket torna a "casa" / Back "home" for my Kodak Pocket

Foto presa amb una càmera Kodak Pocket, fabricada el 1896 i venguda als magatzems El Siglo de Barcelona poc després; pel·licula Ilford Ortho 80 de 35mm adaptada al format 102, revelada amb HC110.
Fa temps que volia fer AQUESTA foto amb AQUESTA càmera. I mira que és una imatge aparentment sense substancia ni gaire sentit de les Rambles de Barcelona. Però on ara hi ha aquests avorrits blocs de pisos, fins el 1932 hi havia els grans magatzems El Siglo, aleshores els més importants de l'estat. Doncs precisament AQUÍ fou on es va vendre aquesta càmera amb la que faig la foto en algun moment de 1896 o poc després. La càmera conserva tant la plaqueta exterior així indicant-ho, com una etiqueta a dintre especificant el preu de venda de 30 pesetes. Per desgracia no puc fotografiar l'edifici original perquè com ja he dit el 1932 (just el dia de Nadal!) s'acabà tot: un gran incendi destruí tot l'establiment i l'edifici. Unicament es pot comparar la finestra de la dreta, del veí teatre Poliorama (aleshores, cinema).

Fotografia feta amb una de les càmeres de pel·licula més antigues que tinc, una Kodak Pocket del 1895. El format 102 va deixar de fabricar-se el 1949, i és impossible de trobar. Per sort tinc dos "spools", pel que he creat una imitació de rodet de 102: retallant el paper protector del usual format 120 i fent servir pel·licula de 35mm com a substitut de la pel·licula original, de mida força similar.

I've wanted to take THIS photo with THIS camera for a long time. And I admit it, this is a dull image from Les Rambles, in Barcelona. But where these boring blocks of flats now stand, until 1932 there was the El Siglo department store. Well, HERE was precisely where this very camera with which I take the photo was sold sometime in 1896 or shortly after. The camera retains both the outer plate indicating this, as well as a label inside specifying the selling price of 30 pesetas. Unfortunately, I can't photograph the original building because, as I said, in 1932 it all came to an end: a big fire destroyed the entire establishment and the building, just in Christmas Day!. Only the window on the right can be compared from those times, part of the neighboring Poliorama theater (then a cinema).

Some photos with one of the oldest film cameras I have, an 1895 Kodak Pocket. The 102 format stopped being made in 1949, and is almost impossible to find, even expired. Luckily I have two 102 spools, so I created an imitation of 102 roll-film: cutting the backing paper from the usual 120 format and using 35mm film as a replacement for the original film, which was of quite similar size.
