Aquest edifici d'aspecte avorrit i (literalment) gris Ja estava aquí abans de la II Guerra Mundial (era l'administració del cementiri jueu que hi havia aprop!). I encara hi és avui en dia. Però durant la guerra, entre 1941 i 1945, el camp de concentració nazi de Plaszow va creixern tot al seu entorn. La posició d'aquest edifici en un punt essencial del camp feu que els nazis l'adaptessin com a comandancia del camp.
Encara té aspectes més sinistres, en el seu historial. Per una banda els nazis aprofitaren els seus soterranis com a presó de castig i aillament per als presoners. Per altra banda, sembla que fou des d'aquest balcó, i no des del de casa seva, des d'on Amon Göth disparava als presoners amb un fusell amb mira telescòpica.
Ara estan iniciant les obres per a rehabilitar-la com a museum de Plaszow.

This dull-looking and (literally) gray building was already here before World War II (it was the administration of the nearby Jewish cemetery!). And it's still there today. But during the war, between 1941 and 1945, the Nazi concentration camp of Plaszow grew all around it. The position of this building at an essential point in the camp meant that the Nazis adapted it as a field command.
It has even more sinister aspects, in its history. On the one hand, the Nazis used their basements as prisons for punishment and isolation for prisoners. On the other hand, I've read that it was from this balcony, and not from the one in his house, from where Amon Göth shot the prisoners with a rifle with a telescopic sight.
It's now being arranged for a future museum of KL Plaszow.
