La bestia de la guerra / The Beast of War

IN ENGLISH BELOW THE LINE

=====================================

Photo taken with a Zeiss-Ikon Contax II manufactured in 1936; KMZ Jupiter-12 f2.8/35mm lens made in 1959; Kodak Double-X (or Eastman 5222) film, developed with undiluted Bellini D96.

If the T-34 tank is one of the symbols of the Soviet army throughout World War II, the IS-2 can perfectly symbolize the final stage of the conflict, especially when they crushed the Wehrmacht in 1945. Considered the "Tiger hunter", I won't get into the debate of which tank was better, as there are plenty of places to look for that information. Just saying that visually it's certainly impressive and massive, even more than the King Tiger!

Although I guess there aren't many "soviet tank on pedestal" monuments left in Poland that were so abundant, especially with the current and criminal Russian war against Ukraine, this one looks in good condition. This is because it is a Soviet tank... but from a Polish regiment (the 5th Heavy, from the 2nd Polish Army). It is located in the Nowa Huta neighborhood, itself a symbol of the Polish communist regime, when it was built.
