L'alter-ego de la Sagrada Familia / Alternative Sagrada Familia

IN ENGLISH BELOW THE LINE

The neo-gothic church of Sant Francesc de Sales, in the Eixample, Barcelona. It was completed by 1885 by Joan Martorell. In fact, the World-famous basilica of La Sagrada

Familia, still being built nearby and begun in the same period (1882!) was going to be almost a carbon copy of this one. And so nobody would known about it or travel to see it. It was in fact Joan Martorell who recomended his pupil Antoni Gaudí for the post of architect of the Sagrada Famila after the first one (Del Villar) resigned.
