El castell de Haut-Koenigsbourg és el més famós de tot Alsacia, i un dels monuments més visitats de tot França. Realment és espectacular, tot i que en bona parta és una reconstrucció romàntica de finals del s. XIX, quan tot Alsacia formava part del Imperi Alemany. De fet, la seva reconstrucció fou demandada expressament per el kaiser Guillem II com a mostra de la germanitat d'Alsacia, i per tant, és tot un exercici de propaganda germànica. Ara en mans franceses. Un bon resum dels conflictes de fa 120 anys, especialment entre 1870 i 1945.
En tot cas el castell original data del s. XII i fou destruit el 1462.

The castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg is the most famous in all of Alsace, and one of the most visited monuments in all of France. It really is spectacular, although in large part it is a romantic reconstruction from the end of the s. XIX, when all of Alsace was part of the German Empire. In fact, its reconstruction was expressly demanded by Kaiser Wilhelm II as a show of the Germanness of Alsace, and therefore, it is an exercise in Germanic propaganda. Now in French hands. A good summary of the conflicts of 120 years ago, specially from 1870 to 1945.
Anyway the castle is really medieval in it's origins, built in the XII Century and burnt and abandoned in 1462.
