L'avenc de Bramabuòu (Brambiau en francès) és un lloc que tenia pendent de visitar des de feia dècades. Des del ségle XX, de fet. Vaig passar per aquí sense entrar-hi a mitjans dels anys 80, i fins aquest 2021 no hi he pogut anar de veritat.
Diuen que en les grans riuades, l'abisme fa tant soroll que sona com un bou que brama. Aleshores, l'aigua pot arribar a sortir en un allau de 10 metres d'alçada.
Aquí, a Bramabuòu o Bramabiau, és on va "neixer" la espeleologia, de la mà de Edouard-Alfred Martel, el 1884. Efectivament,aquí i en aquell any, s'iniciaren les primeres exploracions sistemàtiques i cientifiques de coves a nivell mundial.

The Bramabuòu chasm (Bramabiau in French) is a place I had been visiting for decades. Since the twentieth century, in fact. I passed by without going into it in the mid-80s, and until this 2021 I couldn’t really go there.
The name means "the roaring ox", because that the mighty sound the water does when there's a flood (and then the water surges in a 10 m. heigh wave),
Here, in Bramabuòu or Bramabiau, is where caving was "born", by the hand of Edouard-Alfred Martel, in 1884. Indeed, here and in that year, the first systematic and scientific explorations of caves worldwide began. .
