Potser m'equivoco, però crec que 18x24 cm ja és el màxim que faré en gran format de fotografía. I res millor que començar amb una càmera que amés pugui permetre provar tècniques alternatives sense por de experimentar.
Aquesta és una càmera de gran format FKD 18x24 fabricada a Kharkov per la relativament desconeguda Kharkov Fotofabrika. Tot i el seu arcaisme, no és pas tant antiga com sembla, sino que data del 1967. També es produïa el model de 13x18, més petit. Pel que he vist d'aquest tipus de càmeres sovietiques, la qualitat posterior sembla declinar clarament, i de fet la producció canvià de Leningrad a Kharkov i es nota aquest canvi. Ho sé perquè també tinc una altra càmera antecessora, la FK 18x24 del 1960, fabricada a Leningrad per GOMZ i de major qualitat.
L'objectiu no és l'original de la càmera (era un Industar-47), però té les mateixes característiques: és un GOMZ Industar-13 f4.5 / 300mm. Es tracta d'una copia del Tessar de Carl Zeiss fabricada a Leningrad el 1941 per al Exercit Sovietic. La indicació que es tracta d'un objectiu militar és la presencia de la falç i el martell sota l'emblema de GOMZ; de fet, el I-13 es va fer servir tant per càmeres de gran format com per cameres de reconeixement aeri. Donat que fou fabricat el 1941, és molt probable que aquest objetiu servís l'exèrcit roig durant la Segona Guerra Mundial.

This is a large format FKD 18x24 camera made by the relatively unknown Kharkov Fotofabrika. Despite its archaism, it is not as old as it sounds, but it dates to 1967. It also produced the smaller 13x18 model. From what I've seen of such Soviet cameras, the later quality seems to be clearly declining, and in fact production changed from Leningrad to Kharkov and this change is noticeable. I know this because I also have a predecessor camera, the 1960 FK 18x24, made in Leningrad by GOMZ and with higher quality.
The lens is not the original from this camera (it was an Industar-47), but it has the same features: it is a GOMZ Industar-13 f4.5 / 300mm. This is a copy of Carl Zeiss's Tessar, made in Leningrad in 1941 for the Soviet Army. The indication that this is a military lens is the presence of the USSR sickle and the hammer under the GOMZ emblem; in fact, the I-13 was used for both large-format cameras and aerial reconnaissance photography. Given that it was manufactured in 1941, it is very likely that this lens served the Red Army during World War II.
