Voigtländer Vito BL

IN ENGLISH BELOW THE LINE

================================================

As I had previously shown you an Ihagee Patent Duplex 720 from my grandfather (for the part of my father),now I will tell you about another camera linked to my grandfather, but on my mother's side. And a pretty much more modern camera, too, from the 50's.

The Voigtländer Vito BL is a very compact but high-quality camera, manufactured between 1956 and 1958, without rangefinder but with light-meter. It's part of the Vito family, the quality compacts from Voigtländer, ranging from before WWI until the 60s. If you have seen that I previously bought at a flea market in Barcelona a slightly later Vito CL it was because I thought it was The one that had my grandfather, but I was wrong (but I'll keep the CL too).

I purchased online this Vito BL from someone in Berlin, and it's in perfect conditions. The lens is a Color-Skopar f2.8 / 50mm, in a Prontor SVS shutter and with a non-integrated Bewi light meter. Not integrated here means that you have to take the light reading with the meter and apply the values to the camera configuration. Oh, and people often think that these cameras are broken because they only load the shutter with film inside. You can also try to charge the shutter by moving the inner toothed knob with your fingers, if necessary.

As I said, my grandfather had one of exactly identical details, with the same lens and even with the crystal viewer, not glass, which gives exceptional visibility and also indicates that it was manufactured in 1958, specifically. The only way to differenciate both is that this one as a retailer sticker inside (telling that was bought in Oberhausen u. Sterkrade). I think that it was exactly this model made in 1958 means that my grandfather bought it precisely that year because he acquired that category, that of grandfather ...
