Hi ha certament un vincle d'unió d'estil dels anys 40 entre aquesta càmera i els automobils americans amb que comparteix (curiosament) nom. Aquesta Pontiac és una càmera, i és francesa, però.
De fet el fabricant era MFAP (Manufacture Française d'Appareils Photographiques), que emprava el nom comercial Pontiac, no està clar si per el cabdill indigena americà, o directament vinculat al fabricant d'automobils.
Aquesta Bloc Métal 45 certament fa honor al seu nom, ja que tota ella és esculpida (i si, és el verb adequat) en un bloc d'alumini. És una de les càmeres més boniques que conec, especialment la part superior, amb el indicador circular de profunditat de camp, la roda d'avenç del rodet, el visor i el encaix per a flaix o altres elements auxiliars.
Aquesta càmera fou fabricada entre el 1946 i el 1954, i emprava el ja desaparescut format 620 (es pot fer servir format 120 amb certs treballs). L'objectiu és un SOM Berthiot Flor f4.5 / 105mm, i l'obturador un Gauthier Prontor II.

There is certainly a style link between this camera and the American automobiles with which it shares (oddly) the name. This Pontiac is a camera, and it's French, though.

This Bloc Métal 45 certainly honors its name, since all of it is carved (and yes, it is the proper verb) in an aluminum block. It is one of the most beautiful cameras I know, especially the upper part, with the circular depth of field indicator, the film advance wheel, the viewfinder and the flash cold-shoe.
This camera was manufactured between 1946 and 1954, and used the already disappeared format 620 (120 can be used with certain modifications). The lens is a SOM Berthiot Flor f4.5 / 105mm, and the leaf shutter a Gauthier Prontor II.
