La primera mesquita fou construida el 785, i la darrera ampliació el 987. Convertida en catedral cristiana el 1236, el 1523 es feu una malaurada i gens original construcció catedralicia al centre. Fins i tot l'emperador Carles I renegà del que es feu en nom seu.

The former mosque, now catholic cathedral of Cordoba, is a huge and charming building, World Heritage of the UNESCO. It's first phase dates from AD 785, and it was completed in 987. Transformed to a christian cathedral in 1236, they put a baroque church structure in the middle of the forest of columns in the XVI Century, destroying part of it's charm.
