Lady Erandis Vol

One of the chief big bads of D&D's Eberron setting, Lady Vol is a lot of things at once. Dragonmarked nobility. Elf. Half-dragon. Undead lich. Military leader. Cult leader. Minor goddess.

Born in secret as part of an ill-fated attempt to end the eternal rivalry between elves and green dragons, Erandis was instead seen as an abomination, and her Dragonmarked house was nearly eradicated. Her mother transformed her into a lich, and Lady Erandis Vol, last member of the House of Vol, went on to pretty much become one of the worst people alive. This is why you do not turn your children into deathless abominations.

Lady Vol has typical villainous machinations, just like any D&D baddie. She also seeks revenge for her life and house - though instead of taking it out on elves and dragons, she's conquering everybody. Lady Vol leads the Order of the Emerald Claw, one of the few unambiguously evil lal-human organizations in Eberron (since the setting TRIES to be somewhat less cut and dry), and also secretly leads the Blood of Vol, a death-worshipping cult that surprisingly isn't ALWAYS easy (some practitioners are a little ignorant about what it's all about). Vol has enough followers to have attained a divine rank, too.

All that, and she can't afford a good wrinkle cream. Great pope hat, though.
