Redcaps!
REDCAPS!
From Borderlands English/Scottish mythology, the Redcap is a vicious little fairy, said to resemble a tiny old man, who murders people and dyes his cap red with their blood. Supposedly wearing armor and iron boots, he traditionally wields a pike with which to skewer foes, can run faster than any man, and can only be stopped by quoting Scripture. Redcaps have become a favorite subject of fantasy and roleplaying lore, and that's why I'm showing off two Monsters in my Pocket, and the Dreamblade Redcap (which can also sub for a D&D redcap).
MONSTER IN MY POCKET (CLASSIC):
Looks good, suitably evil and old-man-ish, but carries a tiny knife instead of a pike. Points for the boots and dripping cap, too.
MONSTER IN MY POCKET (2006)
An ugly little monster, but does not resemble a Redcap. Looks like a prtty nasty goblin, though, and his knife is kind of like a cleaver.
DREAMBLADE: BLOODTHIRSTY REDCAP
"A mote of murderous mania made manifest."
No armor or shoes, and wields an axe, as most modern fantasy Redcaps do. Not the most accurate, but probably the best overall, though his base is too big for most RPG work.
In-game, the Bloodthirsty Redcap is very powerful for his cost, but if he doesn't kill someone every time he attacks, he kills himself. This is a silly ability.
