Lucky me there was a balcony above this room, I knew the top to bottom light would be a challenge, so I placed 2 SB 800's, one CL and one CR pointed towards the celiling on the balcony, both with on camera diffusion at 1/2 power triggered in SU-4 (optical slave) mode.
To even the top to bottom light I also had 2 SB's CL and CR in the main room, no diffusion, pointed directly into the room. CR in straight in and CL is angled slightly up to get over the couch (white couches are such a pain!) without blowing it out. CR at 1/4 power and CL at 1/8th power. Lastly on e on camera pointed up and slightly towards the room, on flash diffusion at 1/4 power.
I find the set up of the room a bit strange, but I tried on from the left side of the room and it look even more cramped.
As for the overhang comments, this was the 11,000 sq ft in 3 hrs. I would have loved to have the time to light outside, but there was no way. I did want to have some blue in the sky and didn't have the time in post to cut and paste, so I split the difference between the sky and the overhang... Ah, the limitations of RE ;-)
