Heterodon platirhinos Latreille, 1801 - Eastern Hognose Snake. Found in town of Adrian in west central Wisconsin. Monroe County, Wisconsin, USA.
It was lounging on a roadway. When I stopped my car to get some pics it started to move off the road and adapted this defensive posture as I approached on foot.
