Syrphid Fly (Blera nigra)

Male Blera nigra (Williston, 1887). Thanks to Bill Dean for confirming the species ID on bugguide. Found at Wedde Creek Savanna SNA in central Wisconsin. Marquette County, Wisconsin, USA.

 

It was sunning on a small debarked area on a fallen conifer tree.
