Robber Fly (Saropogon flavofacialis) with prey

Saropogon flavofacialis Hull, 1956. Thanks to Dr. Chris Cohen for providing the determination on 'diptera.info' website. Found on Mortlock River Road private property just north of Great Eastern Highway, NW of Cunderdin. Western Australia, Australia.

Prey is a fly.

Found while hanging out in saline playa area with Jean and Fred Hort, and the robber might be the same species as this one found by them at a different site.

Single exposure, slightly cropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
