Robber Fly (Laphria sp.)

Male Laphria sp. Found at Mill Bluff SNA in west central Wisconsin. Monroe County, Wisconsin, USA.

 

Alighted on fallen tree in mixed hardwood/conifer forest. There was a female resting on the same tree a few inches from this male. A surprisingly cooperative subject.
