Robber Fly (Ommatius tibialis)

Female Ommatius tibialis (Say, 1823). Found at Wazee Lake Recreation Area in west central Wisconsin. Jackson County, Wisconsin, USA.

 

Found perching on stem tip at margin of abandoned gas line right-of-way in pine barrens habitat.
