Slug snacking on Stemonitis slime mold

Found at Mayville Ledge Beech-Maple Woods SNA in east-central Wisconsin. Dodge County, Wisconsin, USA.

Found in mixed hardwood forest. Found on the trunk of a dead fallen debarked hardwood tree. I was checking some Stemonitis clusters growing on the tree for slime mold beetles, when this beauty ambled up and started chomping on the blackened tips of this clump. While looking through the viewfinder and taking shots I could actually see, through its semitranslucent head, chunks of spores going down it's 'throat'.

Single exposure, uncropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-26EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie and plastic cup diffuser.
