Tumbling Flower Beetle (Mordellaria serval)

Mordellaria serval (Say, 1835). Tentative ID based on bugguide.net images. Found at Mayville Ledge Beech-Maple Woods SNA in east-central Wisconsin. Dodge County, Wisconsin, USA.

Beetle is in the 4-5mm range.

Found in mixed hardwood forest. It seemed to be grazing on a patch of close-appressed fungus on the trunk of a fallen dead debarked hardwood tree. There were 2 other individuals of same species on same fungus on other areas of this same fallen tree.

Single exposure, uncropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-26EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie and plastic cup diffuser.
