Orthopteran

Found at Palo Verde Biological Station, inside Palo Verde National Park. Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica.

I think it might be a female Rhicnoderma humilis or related species in the Romaleidae.

Found on Sendero El Guayacán. This beauty was found on a more open and slightly 'sandier' part of the trail. From the looks of the mouthparts, I think it may have been munching on the tiny mosses in the trail (visible in most of the images).

Single exposure, uncropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
