Robber Fly (Proctacanthus sp.)

Male Proctacanthus sp. Found at Meadow Valley Wildlife Area in central Wisconsin. Juneau County, Wisconsin, USA.

 

Presumably Proctacanthus rufus. Found on open sandy area at side of road. Very skittish species. Took a lot of chasing before I was able to get in close.
