Robber Fly (Lampria bicolor)
Lampria bicolor (Wiedemann, 1828). Found at Hamel private property in central Wisconsin. Marquette County, Wisconsin, USA.
Female I believe. Saw several of these this day. They were perching on leaves of shin to knee high plants, mostly in mottled shade of much larger shrubs. Very skittish and hard to get close to. Open forest.
Single exposure, moderately cropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
