Robber Fly with prey

Found at Wandoo National Park. Western Australia, Australia.

Male Asilinae of sorts, I believe. Perching on a twig about 5-7 inches above the ground. Prey is a cicadellid.

Found while hanging out with Jean and Fred Hort, whom I graciously thank for showing me around my first couple of days in WA and for sharing their extensive knowledge and for pointing out interesting plants and animals to me.

Single exposure, uncropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
