Robber Fly with prey

Found at Las Piedras Amazon Center in Madre de Dios region in southeastern Peru.

Male Asilinae of sorts. Prey is a hymenopteran, possibly a stingless bee. I saw males of this species of robber a handful of times at this reserve. They all were very wary and I could not get close.

Single exposure, uncropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
