Robber Fly with prey

Found on Las Piedras River in Madre de Dios region in southeastern Peru.

 

Prey looks to be a leafhopper (Cicadellidae).

 

Found on sandy beach/riverbank on Las Piedras River near Las Piedras Amazon Center concession. This species was abundant on the beaches and mostly perched on the sand.
