Scarab Beetle
Found at Finca Las Piedras, near town of Monterrey in Madre de Dios region in southeastern Peru.
Maybe something related to Marmarina maculosa?
I saw 3 of these during my stay at Finca Las Piedras. I was lucky to get these shots of this one as they quickly disappear into the leaf litter once they land (presumably to lay eggs). One landed on a very rotten log and quickly dug in and disappeared into the rotting wood.
