Fly

Found at Swartberg Hiking Trail - De Hoek trail head, SE of Prince Albert. Western Cape, South Africa.

Not sure what family this is. Thinking possibly Therevidae or Scenopinidae. It was in the 4mm range.

I saw several of these in this location, including a mating pair which I came close to photographing. They were hanging out on low branches of small shrubs/flowers. Very frustrating to photograph these as they are very wary and intolerant of you getting close to them.

Found in this general vicinity: 33.36275S 22.17060E.

Single exposure, significantly cropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
