Robber Fly (Ommatius sp.) with prey

Ommatius sp. Found at Tirimbina Biological Reserve, near La Virgen de Sarapiquí. Heredia Province, Costa Rica.

 

Prey is a cockroach. Found this on Botarrama trail. I noticed it fly in and land on a plant stem approximately 8-10 inches up from the forest floor.
