Robber Fly (Atractia marginata) with prey

Female Atractia marginata Osten Sacken, 1887. Thanks to Dr. Eric Fisher for providing the species determination on 'diptera.info' website. Found at La Selva Biological Station, near Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí. Heredia Province, Costa Rica.

 

Most probably the prey belongs to Auchenorrhyncha (Per Jan Maca on 'diptera.info' website).

 

Found on trunk of tree. They tend to perch facing downwards. These shots are rotated approximately 90 degrees clockwise.
