Robber Fly

Found at La Selva Biological Station, near Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí. Heredia Province, Costa Rica.

 

Possibly Oidardis sp.? If I remember correctly this was in the 6-7mm range.

 

Several of these robbers were seen perching on stem and branch tips and also on thin root tips of blown over trees, mostly at knee to waist height.
