Robber Fly with jumping spider prey

Male Psilocurus nudiusculus Loew, 1874, I assume based on images of others found at same site expertly IDed as that species on bugguide. Found at Resaca De La Palma State Park in far southern Texas. Cameron County, Texas, USA.

This species exhibited a wide prey range during my week-long visit in far south TX. Here with a jumping spider as prey, I also found a couple with flies, a couple with lep caterpillars, one with a carabid, one with a grasshopper nymph, one a cercopid and finally one with a mirid.

Single exposure, slightly cropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
