Robber Fly (Bathypogon sp.) with prey

Female Bathypogon sp. Thanks to Greg Daniels for providing the generic determination via private email. Found on Glenbar Road, WSW of Theodore. Queensland, Australia.

 

Prey is a cicada. Notice this second position of the cicada. They were originally face-to-face, but the robber has completely rotated the cicada around, while hanging onto the grass blade.
