Robber Fly

Male Proctacanthus hinei Bromley 1928, I believe. Found at Spring Green Preserve SNA in south west-central Wisconsin. Sauk County, Wisconsin, USA.

 

Found in high-quality sandy prairie. Saw several males perching on the sandy path. This one allowed me to get nice and close, possibly due to the overcast conditions.
