Robber Fly with prey
Stenopogoninae of sorts, I believe. Found at Bracken Cave Preserve in northeast San Antonio. Comal County, Texas, USA.
This individual was found in grassland habitat. Prey is a ground beetle, Family Carabidae. The fly and beetle are both messy with moth scales from a prior meal of the fly which I also have pictures of. Will post those and general habitat shot in a bit.
Single exposure, uncropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
