Hister Beetle
Margarinotus felipae (Lewis, 1901). Found at Lower Wisconsin State Riverway - Lone Rock Unit in south west-central Wisconsin. Richland County, Wisconsin, USA.
This species is an eastern pocket gopher (Geomys sp.) burrow inquiline. It can be found outside the burrow systems on warm Spring days. I photographed this one as it was crawling about on a pocket gopher push-up. I saw 4 individuals out on the surface at this location this day.
