Robber Fly (Laphria cinerea) with prey

Male Laphria cinerea (Back 1904). Gotham Jack Pine Barrens SNA in south west-central Wisconsin. Richland County, Wisconsin, USA.

 

Prey is a treehopper, Family Membracidae. Very difficult to see, but there is a pseudoscorpion hitchhiker on the underside of this guy's abdomen just below the haltere.
