Robber Fly (Andrenosoma cinereum)

Female Andrenosoma cinereum (Bellardi, 1861). Thanks to Dr. Eric Fisher for providing the species determination on 'diptera.info' website. Found at La Selva Biological Station, near Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí. Heredia Province, Costa Rica.

 

Found at the Arboleda (Holdridge Arboretum). It was perching on a fallen tree.
