Heteropogon sp. Found at Madera Canyon in Santa Rita Mountains. Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA.
Extremely right place at extremely the right time. I found this pair about eye height. Female (larger) was perched on a branch tip and male came in. He hovered eye-to-eye with her within a millimeter or two. He stroked her 'lovingly' a couple of times and eventually landed behind her to consumate the act.
