Robber Fly
Female Asilinae of some sort, I believe. Found at La Selva Biological Station, near Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí. Heredia Province, Costa Rica.
Found at the Arboleda (Holdridge Arboretum). This beauty was found perching on vines hanging from a tree, a dozen or so inches out from the trunk of the tree.
