Robber Fly with prey

Found at Tregole National Park. Queensland, Australia.

I think the robber is a male Bathypogon sp. Will seek expert confirmation.

While exploring this beautiful park, I was being followed around by a group of pesky little flies that would constantly land on me especially in the face area. So I was not especially saddened when this handsome robber darted out and grabbed one while I was getting in prone position to photograph him.

Single exposure, uncropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
