Robber Fly
Male Asilinae of sorts, possibly Blepharotes? Found at Plunkett Conservation Park in Cedar Creek. Queensland, Australia.
Another large and impressive species. I stumbled upon a spot in the woods where 2 or 3 of these were hanging out. As I was slowly and stealthily 'chasing' them around trying to photograph them, they alternated perches between a couple of large termite mounds and trunks of standing trees/snags. They were pretty wary.
Found here: 27.82008S 206.83824W.
Single exposure, uncropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
