Robber Fly

Ommatius sp., probably O. tibialis (Say, 1923). Found at Iltis Prairie in central Wisconsin. Marquette County, Wisconsin, USA.

 

Shows typical perching behavior of this species. This dead oak was just off to the side of a path through forest/savanna. This branch was overhanging the path, presenting the perfect photo opportunity. Up-close shots to come.
