Robber Fly with prey

Possibly Machimus sp. male with moth as prey. Found at Welder Wildlife Refuge north of Corpus Christi. San Patricio County, Texas, USA.

 

It was tough to get clear shots as this individual was hanging out in relatively thick thigh-high grasses.
