1991 Toyota Camry V6 GX

Facing-off with my next-gen model! Definitely some Lexus LS400 styling similarities.

Not sure if the spoiler was standard for this model, I see the V6 saloons with and without them but they're not uncommon. Helps with reversing anyway, as the bootlid is otherwise invisible.

The plates say Dingles Toyota, but it was actually sold new by a dealers in Cambridge (Hallens). I found this less than glowing page about them: www.jpoc.net/cars/mycars/toyotabrakes.html

It looks as if they were located here, the Hallens name still in evidence: maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&g...

Note the Cargo with odd headlamps!

Edit: With perfect timing, a Client whose family firm runs the current Toyota and Lexus dealers in Cambridge just rang, so I asked him about Hallens. Seems that Marshalls took it on from them in the ‘90s, before they in turn lost it to the current set-up.

Further edit: It seems Hallens were based at 1 Union Lane, Cambridge when they sold this car. Nothing particularly garage-looking there now, the site has presumably been redeveloped.

By coincidence, this morning I briefly followed a tidy, previously unseen E-reg Corolla with an ‘FL’ registration sporting a Hallens dealer sticker in the rear window.
