Market Hill, Sudbury old postcard c.1970

Very pleased to find this card. A very familiar setting, as I was born in this town, lived nearby and eventually worked during 1986-89 in an office overlooking Market Hill. I have other images (below).

I suspect it should be possible to date this shot to quite a narrow period, as the spire on the church has been removed (in 1968 I believe) and traffic is effectively driving around Market Hill as a roundabout, but I only remember it driving down the hill on both side of the parking/market area.

Most of the cars look to be of 1960s vintage, maybe one or two from the '50s? Volvos 144 and 145 and Renaults 16 and 8 are the only immediately obvious non-British vehicles.

I wonder if there might be a Hillman Avenger near the top on the left, and is the Renault 16 a facelift model?

The colourising 'artist' has been at work, with an overly blue sky and several cars being a little more yellow than they should be....
