1978 Vauxhall Cavalier Coupe ad Watson & Smith, Diss, Norfolk

I wish there were some Mk1 Cavaliers like this still around town! I love the early Manta B and its Cavalier Sportshatch/Coupe equivalents.

I think Watson & Smith's name dates back some years, as I'm pretty sure I have an old Bedford brochure with their stamp on it. I don't recall that name in my time around here, I think they've variously been Gales, Warwick Shubrook and are now selling under Thurlow Nunn (despite driving past there nearly every day I had to look that up, that's how much interest I take in modern cars!).

I wonder if they still sell from the same place however - the curent showroom has the usual silver cladding and signage but that's obviously tacked onto a somewhat older building.

These ad's are possibly of limited interest to any outside the local area, but I'm always fascinated by the constantly shifting names and brands of car dealerships in a given area. I like the time when they could trace their roots back to some long-established local firm rather than the PLC's and groups of today.
