43080 Winterbourne 24th September 2001
Buffered 43080 leads on what is believed to be 1S71, the 07:21 Penzance to Glasgow on 24th September 2001. The location is an old quarry at Winterbourne, a mile out of Bristol Parkway which was a popular spot at the time. Unfortunately the line has now been wired and trees have taken over.
43080 started life in Feb 1978 as E43080, part of East Coast set 254013. It eventually became one of 8 to be fitted with buffers and DVT equipment to work with Class 91's and Mk3 HST coaches whilst the DVT and Mk 4's were built. Next was Cross Country for Virgin trains and then after a period in store the Crewe built power car was re-engined and renumbered to 43480 working for Grand Central. After their HST's were replaced with Adelante's it then had a short spell with East Midlands Trains before moving over to Rail Adventure for use in stock moves.
