37689 Avonmouth Docks 15th December 1999
37689 arrives at the enterance to Avonmouth docks with 6C88, an early morning service from Didcot Yard to Bennetts siding within the docks complex. This train ran three times a week and once loaded with industrial coal would go forward to Rugby for burning in the cement works there. MEA’s were used on this service which were superseded in early 2000 by the then new 100t MBA’s. For a train to enter the docks a release button had to be pressed which gave a release to the signalman to clear the signal (SA30). As the ground staff that day I was waiting to be picked up by the Didcot driver.
