66190 Exeter Riverside 20th August 2023
After an awful passenger ride from Westbury to Exeter on 20th August 2023 I was tasked with taking 66190 "Martin House Children's Hospice" and its rake of JGA and JIA wagons to Par ready for loading the following week. The lengthy train had arrived from Cliffe Vale early that morning and will continue as 6Z73 at 14:32 with a load of 680t. Five of the former JGA hopers can be seen behind the engine having come out of store (with two JIA's} at Long Marston the previous Thursday. They had previously been used on Rylstone to Hull aggregates traffic. I only took the train to Lostwithiel in the end as Par had no where suitable to stable over the weekend. The HTA and liner flats on the left are all on long term store at Exeter Riverside.
The loco was dispatched to France in August 2007 and started working under the "Euro Cargo" banner all over the country. In mid 2021 it returned to the UK. All its European cab fitting have been removed and returned to UK spec but it's not difficult to spot its heritage as a modified speedo and various French language stickers can be seen painted over when in the cab.
Note: picture taken during the course of my duties with the yard under local control.
